Co Tyrone based construction industry ‘all rounder’ Western Building Systems have made great strides to secure the highly regarded harmonised EU fenestration industry standard BS EN 14351-1:2006. Following a series of BFRC (British Fenestration Rating Council) approved simulations, the company’s Windows Division have also recently been awarded A’s for Window Energy Rating for four of their top products including two casement windows, a sliding sash and a reversible model.

Western Building Systems has just handed over a block of administrative units at Beaumont Hospital in a €1million contract deal, following on from its separate completion of high dependency units at the hospital last spring. The full design and build project pitched the Co-Tyrone rapid, fast-track specialist against six other companies in a competitive process.

Rapid-build specialist Western followed its spring ’09 contract win in Balbriggan with the successful completion of three schools projects at Strathearn College and Gaelscoil na Mona in Belfast, and at Coláiste na hInse in Laytown, Co Meath. All three projects were completed during accelerated, fast-track programmes in the latter half of 2009.

The first commercial privately owned business park has opened in Coalisland. Western Business Park is the brainchild of local entrepreneur Martin McCloskey. The four-acre, seven-unit site is located at the top of the Washingbay Road directly adjacent to Springisland Shopping Centre. Mr McCloskey’s dream has been more than 20 years in the making having bought half the site from the Ulster Fireclay Works in 1982 and the second half from Coalisland District Development Association in the early 90s.

FINGAL'S newest secondary school, Ardgillan Community College in Balbriggan, will open its doors to pupils for the first time this week. Construction on the new € 3.5 million complex at Castelands began in March and was completed last week by Co Tyrone-based familyowned firm Western Building Systems after an accelerated 22-week construction period.

COALISLAND firm which has gained a reputation for fast-track building has just completed one of its biggest hospitals contracts to date – a new four-storey medical admissions unit at Dublin's Beaumont Hospital. It took under 12 months from the date the order was placed with Western Building Systems of Coalisland, until substantial completion of the project.

Co Tyrone-based Western Building Systems has just commenced the latest phase of a two year expansion at its headquarters at the Mountjoy Road in Coalisland. The 6,000 square foot, purpose-built panelised development incorporates new offices, staff areas, a showroom and production facilities, and almost doubles the innovative company’s existing capacity at Mountjoy Road. The development will be completed for a formal opening in the spring of next year.
